My “Art You Can Wear” designs include exotic woven fiber, metal, and bead creations in addition to more traditional beaded pieces. My designs are often sparked by colors and textures I observe in nature, but special stones and beads play a role as well - I find the rainbow of colors exciting and inspiring. I have always been intrigued by crystals and the various forms they take and include crystals in many of my pieces for their texture and eye-catching qualities. The woven collection presents hand-woven “wearable art.” The pieces in this collection include a variety of fibers and textures. Several have woven metal in their design.

Each piece is painstakingly created from an original design, using an assortment of beads and fibers. A few pieces are purely whimsical but most of the designs are inspired by the colors and textures of nature (desert landscapes, the mountains or the sea) and combine those qualities with elements of native cultures.

All Diane Kirkpatricks are enlarged for your pleasure at http://www.dianakirkpatrick.com/portfolio_woven-2.htm she even has some for sale.

This is an Art Deco inspired design in black, with lots of topaz and clear Swarovski crystals, plus gold glass bead fringe and crystal.

“Canyon Dreams” was inspired by the “wall wash” that can be seen throughout Canyon de Chelly.

It is created on wire and features lots of crystal and jasper bead accents.

This is also an Art Deco inspired necklace.

I created it using wire warps and it features lots of Swarovski crystal, iridescent beads, and gold fiber accents, plus woven gold plated copper art wire.

“The Goddess” is a multicolor piece in autumn tones with coppery iridescent beads and a dramatic crystal goddess pendant.

“Lanterns” is a woven piece in purple and ivory highlighted with designs in ivory color lantern-shaped beads.

Multicolor woven piece in tan, ivory, avocado and burgundy fibers accented with beads.

“Inca Vision” is a multi-piece necklace in earth-tone fibers accented with clusters of bone and glass beads.

“Deja Blu” is my interpretation of my blue Tonkinese kitty’s face. The weaving is accented with crystals and snowflake obsidian.

“Bahia Honda” captures the strikingly dramatic teal, royal blue, turquoise, and mint green colors of the waters that surround the Florida Keys.

This dramatic necklace is accented with a drape of crystals and lots of malachite.

“Inca Dreams” is a multi-piece necklace in autumn colors with glass and jasper beads.

“Springtime” is accented with lots of crystals, beads, and pearls.

“Seascape” is a woven piece in turquoise, emerald, and teal accented with crystals and silver foil-lined beads.

“Drama” is a powerful piece in black, red, ivory, and gold accented with black and red beads and highlighted with vermeil beads and lotus blossoms.

Hand woven necklace of twisted cotton and mylar fibers in black, burgundy, white, and salmon. The necklace is accented with spiral wound metallic beads in a silver tone.

I really like the flow of this necklace and it’s very light to wear.

“Spring Tulip” is woven with horizontal warp threads (instead of the more usual vertical warps) in shades of red, coral, and cream with red crystals and clear Swarovski crystal.

“Coral Sands” is a dramatic piece in shades of coral and black accented with silver fibers, crystals, coral beads, and sterling silver beads.

“Amulet” is a woven amulet bag.
