Needleweaving Pictures for Lesson 10   weaving and add bead fringe, also add threads for straps

Welcome to Large Pictures for Lesson 10

Large pictures for weaving, adding bead to fringe on the botton warp threads also adding the threads and beads for the straps.

#17 Set beads around to get an idea which designs you want to use. Decide how many tassels you want. I cut 9 threads 9 inches long for the tassels. #18 Take out bank pin, use crochet hook to open the loop. Fold waxed linen in half and make Lark's Head or Sales Tag knot.

#19 Add beads and charms with knots to secure items. Clip threads.
#20 Attached the centerpiece. Now you can remove all pins, You now have your own "Needleweaving" I hope you enjoy your wearable art necklace.

#1 With a crochet hook find the warp thread loop at the top, add cut waxed linen, pull waxed linen thread through the loop so there are equal parts of thread on both sides of the warp loop.  Also add grid paper described in #4, Lesson #10. #2 Picture shows waxed linen pulled through the warp loop.   Make sure there are equal amounts of thread on both sides. The waxed linen should be the lengh of the straps of your choice.  I'm planning tassels at the end of this one so extra linen is needed. Be sure to replace the pins in the warp thread for security.

#3 Make the warp threads for both sides.  Add extra grid tissue paper if needed. #4  Add beads to hide the transition from pendent to straps.  Use pins to keep the beads from moving.  Make sure the space between warps are similar to what you did in the main part of the necklace.  Use pins to pull tight.

#5 Add beads and threads that will coordinate with the main part of the necklace. Keep tension taut and warps straight, moving pins as you weave up to desired length. My straps are 5 1/2 inch before I started the braiding.   Remember to work your pattern opposite on each side of the straps. Close up of weaving. I'm still not sure which center piece to use.

#6 When you reach desired length, start decreasing by weaving the two last threads as one. Weave 3 rows. #7 After weaving 3 rows, weave the last three threads as one.   Move warps and pins over so it will begin to taper off. Keep inside warp straight. Weave 3 more rows.

#8 After weaving 3 rows. Weave the last four threads as one.   Move warps and pins over so It will come together. Weave 3 more rows. #9 This picture is the right side strap, so it may look different than previous picture. Make a knot with all the threads to secure them.

#10 Right side strap. If you want to hide the knot use a large hole bead. #11 decided to use this tube bead that matches the ones used in the straps and main part of the necklace. Also, since I used the 2 ply waxed linen it made the thread ties to thin, so I added extra brown 3 ply brown threads. I measured the tan threads and cut the brown double the length. Knotted it around the tan threads.

#12 Here you can see there's three groups of threads for braiding. 2 tan, 2 brown for each strand. #13 Just in case you don't know how to braid, this is the first step.

#14 Take the right thread and bring to the front and between the two remaining threads.

#15 Then bring the opposite, left side and bring to the front and between the two remaining threads. Pull tight so all the braids are the same size.

#16 Braid to desired length and add a knot to keep all threads together. Add beads with knots to hold the beads in place.   Clip extra threads.
