"Recipe for a Spirit Necklace"
by
Gloria Angell

Gather to you many beads
a multitude of sizes and shapes
semi-precious, pearls, glass
some china, some metal, all inspiring.

On a core board, lay out a pattern of pins,
Tie a spool of thread at the fist pin
weave the thread up and down-around the pins to form a loom.
You are now ready to begin the weave.

Choose thread colors that will breathe life
into the center piece you have chosen.
Perhaps an old coin
or a carved piece of jade.

Align various beads on the loom.
You will weave beautiful threads around them
going from the top, to the bottom edges
all the while weaving in the love.

Along the bottom
attach charms and baubles
which will move with the wearer
and glean her spirit.

Tie the neck pieces into the sides
Braiding, weaving and beading
as you breathe life into this spirit necklace.

Many hours and a serving of your soul
will be encased in this piece of wearable art
It's so amazing!
Can you bear to sell it?
You might just have to keep this one.

A woman comes to try it on
The magic which was woven into the necklace
is now reflected brilliantly
and shines in the pools of her eyes-Sold!
I begin again.

"The Plan of the Master Weaver"
Author Unknown

Our lives are but fine weaving
That "God" and we prepare,
Each life becomes a fabric planned
And fashioned in "His" care.

We may not always see just how
The weaving intertwines,
But we must trust the Masters hand
And follow "His" design.

For He can view the pattern
Upon the upper side,
While we must look from underneath
And trust in "Him" to guide.

Sometimes a strand of sorrow
Is added to "His" plan,
And though it's difficult for us,
We still must understand.

That it's "He" who fills the shuttle
It's "He" who knows what's best,
So we must weave in patience
And leave to "Him" the rest.

Not till the loom in silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall "God" unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needed
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern "He" has planned.

"My Wife the Needleweaver"

My wife has found an art, she truly does enjoy,
It's called Needleweaving and it really can annoy.

With all these beads and threads all over the place,
I know she is "addicted," I can see it on her face.

She's really dedicated to it, even making beads of clay,
Wow! Now she wants to go on a bead buying holiday.

Oh! for all her artistic effort, she's certainly underpaid,
She even hoards her money, for beads that are custom-made.

All her other crafts, are carefully packed away elsewhere,
Now there's a sign on the studio door, "Needleweaver at Work, BEWARE".

She "Needleweaves" with migraines and PMS, I know that she's not able,
She keeps "Needleweaving" with her head upon the table!

This month she's designing a new pattern, much to her delight,
Now she planing another creation, until she gets it right.

The addiction to this art can be a distraction.
Since my wife can Needeweave, I don't get much action!

Here's to her tedious undertaking and this art called "Needleweaving,"
I'd be happy if we could be alone, just once again this evening.
